English Language Learners
The purpose of the English Language Learners Program at KASD is to support Limited English Proficient students in their efforts to become fully English proficient. Students whose native language is something other than English may be eligible for ESL services. After being evaluated by the ESL teacher, if the student qualifies for ESL services, a Plan of Service will be created. While parents do not have the right to deny initial Language Proficiency testing, parents do have the right to refuse ESL services once a student is identified. ESL students will be evaluated annually to determine language proficiency and need of services.
